Lexia Primary Reading Ages 5 to 8
Lexia Primary Reading is a state-of-the-art
computer program designed to help students acquire and improve
basic reading skills. It's learning activities focus on
developing and reinforcing automatic word-recognition skills
generally aquired in the first 3 years of Primary school.
The focus of the activities is on developing awareness of
the phonological structure of language as well as on monitoring
for meaning. Timed activities are included to increase automaticity
and the use of pictures facilitates comprehension.

Primary Reading is an interactive reading skills program designed
for students aged 5 to 8. Hundreds of exercises provide practice
in phonemic awareness, sound-symbol correspondence, word attack
skills, and early comprehension skills, while introducing nearly
2,000 vocabulary words.

Progress is not registered until each unit is mastered;
the student must show both competency and fluency in each
skill. The result is that all students-- mainstream, second
language learning, and learning disabled-- can learn fundamental
reading skills quickly and with less teacher oversight.
